The four parts
| # | Part |
|---|---|
| 1 | The picture. The work as it stands right now. No picture scores as missing. |
| 2 | What you shipped. What actually got done since the last post. Specific. |
| 3 | What you’re stuck on. Name the blocker out loud. |
| 4 | What you need. From me, from your editor, from your department. Early. |
The DUE line on the syllabus says exactly what today’s post needs. Read it first.
The picture, by department
| Dept | The picture | A 4/4 sounds like |
|---|---|---|
| Content | The copy, headline and caption included, or your interview notes. | “Volleyball story drafted, 180 words. Still need a quote from the coach. Asking at practice today.” |
| Outreach + Photo | Your best three frames, not the whole card. Or the calendar with a shooter on every event. Or the sales and booth numbers. | “Volleyball, 212 shots, these three are sharp. Missed the serve, too slow on the shutter. Need the 70-200 next game.” |
| Design | The spread in InDesign, bleed visible. | “Spread 14 placed, captions in. Dominant photo is soft. Swapping it for Friday’s frame.” |
Wednesday
Post before class. Your post is what goes up on the wall in the first 5 minutes.
If nothing newer is posted, your last standup goes up instead. Nothing posted and nothing up is a zero.
Say: your 90 seconds in one line, and your outside hours this week.
When a spread is due
Post the finished spread in YB-STANDUP in the first 10 minutes. Then you stand up and present it.
Quiz day with nothing after the quiz: nothing to post. Work after the quiz: post that work, never the quiz.
The 5/4
Name the problem. Explain the choice. Show what you tried and rejected.
“The dominant photo was a wide shot of the whole bench. No face read at print size. Cropping tight pixelated it. Swapped for #12 mid-serve and moved the wide to a sidebar.”
Dojo-kun reads every post against the day’s DUE line and your department. Full rubric: CRED.
