Instructions

One thingPost on the days the schedule says. If you miss a week, everyone can see it.

You’re the face of Yearbook. You’re the only department whose work the whole school sees the same week you make it.

Every week

  • Tue
Weekly Update. Three parts, always: what’s happening (events, ASB, spirit week), something funny, something about sports. If it takes more than one period to make, it’s too big.
  • Thu
CENTAURUS CIRCUIT one week, Bites & Banter the next. The Circuit is 5 to 10 edited photos in one carousel, connected by a theme you can say in one sentence. Bites & Banter is the interview.
  • Fri
A meme or trend recreation one week, the BUY THE YEARBOOK ad the next. The ad isn’t an apology. Sell the book.
  • Weekly
    Reply to comments and messages.
  • Monthly
    One student interview.
  • Per break
The break posts, made and scheduled a week early.
  • Week 1
    Plan your story spread.
  • Per checkpoint
Your spread, signed and built. Everyone builds spreads.

Every post, in order

  1. Make it. Vertical, inside the safe zone, subtitles on.
  2. Get approval before you post. Sensei gives notes. Use them.
  3. Names: first name, last initial. Every caption, tag, and credit.
  4. Post it on its day. Short week? Earlier, never later.
  5. Reply to the comments.
Full names get taken downFirst name and last initial in every caption, tag, and credit. A post with a full name comes down right away, and it costs you grade points.
Nothing gets posted without approvalYou’re posting for the whole school, to the whole school. A joke that’s funny in 4th period can look very different to a parent at 9pm.
The feed doesn’t take breaksSchool closes. Instagram doesn’t. Break posts are due, made and scheduled, the Friday one week before the break.

When people know what’s coming each week, they start looking for it. So a skipped week stands out.
  1. Tuesday, Weekly Update: what’s happening, something funny, something about sports. Short and fast.
  2. Thursday, Circuit or Bites & Banter: a carousel with a one-sentence theme, or the interview.
  3. Friday, meme or the ad: a trend recreation, or BUY THE YEARBOOK, sold like you want people to own one.
  4. All three approved first, first name + last initial throughout, comments answered.

Lesson

The break slate

Ten posts this year happen during weeks with no school: two over Thanksgiving, four over winter break, four over spring recess. They still go out. You make them early.

  • Nov 13
Thanksgiving posts due, made and scheduled
  • Dec 11
Winter break posts due, made and scheduled
  • Mar 12
Spring recess posts due, made and scheduled

If a post day lands on a holiday, it becomes the holiday post: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s. Veterans Day and MLK Day get a post on their own day. Everything else during a break follows the normal rotation, made ahead.

The caption

The first line is the most important part, because it’s all most people read before deciding to keep watching. Give them a reason to care and something to reply to. A pile of hashtags does nothing.A sentence people want to screenshot does everything.

Edit in Resolve

DaVinci Resolve. Free, on the computers in this room, and what real film studios use. Its color tools are what make a video look professional instead of homemade. Spend one real afternoon learning it.

The name rule, exactly

ship it
“Gianna C. put up 14 kills.”

First name, last initial. Every caption, tag, credit.

comes down
“Gianna Carrillo put up 14 kills.”

The post comes down and it costs grade points. The book prints full names. The feed never does.

The rule is about what we write. A last name on the back of a jersey is part of the uniform. That’s fine.

Your chair asks you one question every day

What are you posting today? If the feed goes quiet, people stop checking it. And they don’t come back on their own.

Here’s who’s giving the notes: Sensei founded and ran the global content and community team at Razer, then ran US programming for Red Bull Gaming. When he gives notes on your caption, they matter.

Example

A Tuesday Weekly Update that worked.

WEEKLY UPDATE · WK 8
0:00 “Spirit week starts Monday. Here’s the day you’ll regret skipping.” (what’s happening)
0:12 the chem teacher’s skeleton in a Centaurs jersey (something funny)
0:20 girls volleyball, 19 straight, Beverly on Thursday (sports)
0:28 end card: BUY THE YEARBOOK, yearbookforever.com

Caption: “Nineteen straight. Beverly on Thursday. Bring a voice you can lose.” #CCHS #Centaurus
Why this gets a 5

Three parts, 28 seconds, made in one period. Subtitles on. Built inside the safe zone. Approved Monday, posted Tuesday. Caption gives you a reason to care and something to reply to. Gianna C., not Gianna Carrillo, in the volleyball clip.

How to turn it in

How to turn it inApproval first, then post, then log it

Send the post to Sensei for approval before it goes anywhere. Then post it on its day. Then put the link in your daily report in #content so Dojo-kun can score it.

  1. Finished post → Sensei for notes.
  2. Fix the notes. Post on the day.
  3. Daily report in #content: what you posted, with the link and a screenshot.
Open #content ↗ Tue, Thu, Fri, every week. Break posts the Friday one week before the break. Short week: earlier, never later.
