Take the tests

Pass two tests at 90% or higher: the General test and your department’s test. Until you pass both, your CRED stays locked. Practice as many times as you want. The real test happens in class.

Working out where we are in the year

What to do this week →

Every deadline on this site is 12:58 PM, the start of 4th period, so it can be checked that day. Checkpoints are Thursdays. Drafts are Fridays. Friday is never a checkpoint.

02How this class works

How this class works

One book, 276 pages. It prints once. Every spread goes through the same three moves, then a checkpoint.

1 · DraftPlan it

A sketch, a photo list, a writing angle. Your chair signs it, then Sensei. Two signatures before you build.

2 · V1Build it

Photoshop or Canva, from the Design Bible, with real photos. Post it. Someone else proofs it.

3 · V2Fix it

Every note fixed. Thread, Drive, Walsworth. This is the version that goes in the book.

ThenThe checkpoint

Six Thursdays. Pages at V2 by 12:58 PM. Miss one and it’s a blank spot in the book. Nobody fills it for you.

Every week: a daily post in your department channel, and the Wednesday standup. Every month: a workshop, a build, a proof, a checkpoint, and a post-mortem the Friday after. The Month has the shape.

The premise: why this is your book, not Sensei’s

You run it. Sensei signs off on it.

Run by students, for real. You pick the theme, decide what goes in, assign your own people, run your own meetings, and your names go on the finished book. That only works if you make real decisions and stick with them.

Sensei is the editor. He keeps the theme on track when it drifts in February, and he’s the last person to check the book before 276 pages become permanent. On anything that can’t be taken back once it’s printed, he has the final say. Everywhere else, you do. He uses that power in one place: every plan needs his signature and your chair’s before it gets built. Signing the plan lets him help you steer instead of saying no at the end.

The cover is his unless you take it. Show him you can handle it, and it’s yours.

Only call him in for five things: a stuck checkpoint, fixing what broke, problems between people, finding the right person (admin, ASB, a coach, the Walsworth rep), and money. Everything else is up to you. If he walks into a Wednesday meeting and finds out you handled all five without him, this worked.

You decide what goes in the book and how it gets made. Nobody decides the dates. The checkpoints, the specs, and the privacy rules don’t change, so that everything else can be yours.

A bad essay gets a grade and goes away. A yearbook mistake gets printed a thousand times and sits on a shelf in someone’s home for forty years. Misspell a senior’s name, and it’s misspelled forever. Leave a student out, and they stay out. That’s what’s at stake, and you should know it on day one.
